Looking for a bag that shouts SPRING? The Margarita Mini is a fresh take on the bucket bag, designed for girls from little to all grown up to carry their essentials in a bright, cheery textile complemented by a cascade of poms and tassels. Both textiles are traditionally used in capes, known as quechquemitl in the local language Nahuatl. Straps tie to achieve desired shoulder / crossbody length (and are finished with tassels). Hand embroidered and stitched in Puebla, Mexico.
Impact: Each bag provides 1 day of work to women, and 1 day of education for girls through the Catrinka Girls Project.
The woman behind the bag:
Margarita de Jesús is part of the Cooperative Yoltachijchihuanej ("workers with heart" in their native Nahuatl) from Hueyapan, Puebla. The cooperative includes 10 women artisans, all specialists in embroidering with naturally dyed wool, who are considered protectors of the environment.
