Handmade in Uzbekistan
Fine handwoven ikat is matched with a flexible, durable silhouette that is the perfect canvas. Ikat is a technique that involves dying the threads before they are woven. Each of these clutches has its own unique pattern and personality. A perfect holiday gift for any lover of textiles or handmade luxury.
The textile was handwoven by women weavers in the Fergana Valley, the traditional heartland of ikat weaving in Uzbekistan. The bag was assembled in a workshop run by two sisters in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Each bag provided 4 days of fair work to women. The sale of each bag will provide 5 days of life skills mentoring for adolescent indigenous Mayan girls through our 2014 NGO partner, Redmi. Learn more.
